EcoDesign Special Exhibition 2010
Light as the theme of Habitare’s EcoDesign Special Exhibition
The second international EcoDesign Special Exhibition, held in conjunction with Habitare at the Helsinki Exhibition & Convention Centre on 1-5 September 2010, is set to present unique, ecological lights that have been specially designed for the exhibition. World-renowned lighting designer Ingo Maurer from Germany has been invited to be the curator of the exhibition.Ingo Maurer (b. 1932), maestro of light and winner of several design awards, made his breakthrough with the table light "Bulb" back in 1966. His designs are always both technically intelligent and visually intriguing. In addition to lights, Maurer has designed light installations and lighting for public spaces, and held several exhibitions. Ingo Maurer's influence in the new generation of designers is deemed significant.
Ingo Maurer will invite top-class international designers and young talents from Finland and abroad to take part in the EcoDesign special exhibition. New design and sustainable development form an interesting foundation for the designers’ visions of a more ecological tomorrow. The EcoDesign Special Exhibition will feature approximately 80 unique, ecological lights specially designed for the exhibition. Who knows, maybe a new classic is waiting to be discovered... The list of the EcoDesign 10 designers is now available here. We are very delighted to see that so many designers decided to participate the exhibition. We are looking forward to find out their solution for ecological light.
The EcoDesign Special Exhibition is produced by Advertising Agency Valo and organised by the Finnish Fair Corporation. The first EcoDesign Special Exhibition, held in September 2009 in conjunction with Habitare, showcased unique ecological chairs by over 80 designers from 16 different countries.
