Ingo Maurer

Ingo Maurer was born in 1932 in Germany. In the beginning of the 60's he emigrated to USA. He worked as a freelance designer in New York and San Francisco. After a few years spent in the US he settled in Munich.

Maurer started to design exceptional lighting and lighting systems in -66, which his company produces and distributes worldwide. In the same year he made his breakthrough with the table light Bulb. He's best known products includes Bulb (-66), YaYaHo (-84), Lucellino (-92), Zettel'z (-98) and Porca Miseria! (-94). A number of his lamps are included in collections of different museums for example in the MoMA, New York. He’s clients include companies such as Tiffany & Co, Galeries Lafayette, Chanel and Issey Miyake.

Ingo Maurer has held numerous exhibitions all over the world. He developes concepts and spectacular one-offs for private and public buildings with his team.

Maurer has received recognition for he's design by winning many design awards including The Fourth Oribe Award in 2003, Georg Jensen 2002 award in 2003, Collabs Design Excellence Award in 2002, Design Award of the Federal Republic Germany 2010. In the year 2006 He received conferment of the Degree of Doctor of the Royal College of Art honoris causa. Ingo Maurer is true maestro of light!
